The Art of Summer

This month I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a fabulous and very talented group of youngsters at Tucson's, The Drawing Studio. I marveled in their creativity, spontaneity, and fresh view of the world. They reminded me of what it was like to make art before the world of academics.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate my education to the fullest, I simply feel that the academic world can be a bit suppressing of one's creativity if that form of creativity does not fit into their definition of what art should be.  What I discovered, or perhaps I should say rediscovered, over my two weeks of instructing them in bookmaking is that it's o.k. to be silly and have fun, it's o.k. to try new things and have them fail completely, and it's all art. :o)

Getting It All Together

In preparation of launching the new website, I have been working the past four days at a feverish pace trying to produce enough goods to sustain us for a while. It has been exhausting to say the least, but equally as gratifying. I have been rising early each morning and often begin making books before I even have a sip of my morning coffee then simply work until I grow tired, which is often nine o'clock in the evening. But the funny thing is that it really doesn't seem like work at all, but I guess that's because I'm really lucky to have found that something that I love to do. Many thanks to all of you who have supported me along the way. Now let's get this business rollin'! Launching in seven days!
